Makovicka Physical Therapy recently partnered with Bike Masters Cycling to offer a Concierge Bike Fit service not found anywhere in the metro Omaha or Lincoln area. The closest comparable bike fit is in Des Moines. Bike Masters Cycling moved its shop in mid-April from 132nd & Fort to 210 Cumberland Drive in Elkhorn.
Concierge Bike Fits will utilize 3D motion capture technology using the Specialized Retul system, which accurately measures every degree of movement and millimeter of distance, providing the cyclist and fitter with the data to support the choices made during the fit. What makes this bike fit unique in our area is the partnership with a respected, locally owned physical therapy company—Makovicka Physical Therapy. The added benefit of a movement specialist–Chris Derozier PTA, a Makovicka staff member certified by Specialist on the Retul system– is Derozier understand body mechanics from training and experience, and he has been an avid cyclist the majority of his life.
Concierge Bike Fits will take Retul data a step further to provide an understanding of body mechanics and a review of riding style. The opportunity to work with a physical therapist assistant to help overcome discomfort on the bike, help prevent injuries, and optimize performance will provide a revolutionary service in our region.
