Ashton was born and raised in Cozad, Nebraska, where she attended Cozad High School and was part of the track team. She then attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training. Ashton earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Creighton University. She is married and has two children. Ashton enjoys helping on the family farm, listening to music, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and spending time with her family.
